about

Originally released in 2003, and hailed by Pitchfork as “the best set of songs Rouse has yet to offer” and “a fun record” by AllMusic, the album pays homage to the songwriters whose songs were popular on AM radio in the year Josh was born.

Produced by Brad Jones, 1972’s “a wide-ranging batch of story-songs, each offering hints and flavors–in some way, shape or form– of the dawn of the Me decade” (Washington Post) and Rouse “fully immersed himself in the decade and emerged a little more exposed, his humor and influences on his sleeve, and with an album that you could dance or at least shake your hips to” (Rolling Stone).
